Back in October 2020 I posted about the Ajazz K620T, and how much I loved it. So, now it’s 2021 and the Epomaker people have decided to up the ante with the K620T 2.0… which is live on Kickstarter right now.
The K620T 2.0 is a 60% (61 key) keyboard with wired and wireless modes (connecting easily to three different devices via Blue Tooth, cycled through using Fn and Q, W, and E keys). Top left of the dynamic, back-lit RGB keyboard is a lovely, tactile, and very handy volume dial which has a pleasing “bump/click” to mute/unmute. Just like the K620T, the K620T 2.0 has an integrated tablet/phone stand that can accommodate a screen size of up to 12 inches. This means that there’s no need for additional stands or cases or for you to try to balance your device somewhere awkwardly while you’re working.
I was offered a choice of pink or blue K620T 2.0 and went with the blue (I feel like I already covered pink with the World Tour Tokyo 3096). That’s all blue. Blue, case, blue keys, blue volume knob. All of it. Even a blue USB cable. There a choice of Clicky blue FIrstblood key-switches or Linear pink ones. I went for blue this time, as much out of curiosity about how they compared to the pinks on my original K620T. They’re actually really nice (even though I do normally prefer a quieter switch), and not too loud, and perhaps most importantly, blue.
Everything which impressed me about the original K620T is the same on the K620T 2.0: the size, the weight (and stability when using with an iPad), the ease of connection and use, the look and feel of the whole thing is pretty much perfect. The two major upgrades from the original are 1) the switches in the K620T 2.0 are hot-swappable (like the GK96S), meaning you can easily swap and upgrade them yourself without any need for soldering 2) the K620T 2.0 uses Bluetooth 5.0, meaning that your connection is faster and has a longer range than ever before.
Last year I ended my review of the original K620T like this: “a perfect little portable workstation (when coupled with an iPad or tablet) with a comfortable desktop feel“. I can’t really put it any better than that. If you want the feel and stability of a desktop while typing with an iPad, tablet, or even a phone, then I don’t think you could do better than the K620T 2.0.
None of us wants to cart a laptop or MacBook around with us on the off-chance that we might get a bit of writing done away from our desk. Slip your iPad and K620T 2.0 into your bag on the other hand and, even if you don’t end up writing anything, you’re not going to curse yourself for having carried them around all day. Win / win.
